WCTSA OSK Match report 18th and 19th May 2024

This last weekend saw the 100 target Olympic Skeet selection shoots 3 and 4 at Crynant Shooting Ground in the Neath Valley. Chris Hughes and his team were their usual courteous selves and after help from Tony setting the targets around 9.00am the squads were set up and underway by 10.00am.

On Saturday, the weather held well until we were on the way home before the rain decided to arrive but only modestly for Wales. Jo Hockly chose to press on with a troubled shoulder and put in a creditable score to gain her team qualification. Well done Jo ! Top score on Saturday was an 85 from Tony Cox and the best round of the day went to Wyndham Howells with a very creditable 23. An apology from me to Wyndham for costing him one target with an incorrect referee decision (Sorry mate !)

Sunday was a lovely warm sunny day with only the usual issue at Crynant of moving shadows throughout the day making us really focus hard on the targets.

Our two new caps made a sterling effort to complete their competitions and we are now able to congratulate both Hywel Jones and Richard Cann on their team qualification. Richard needed all his concentration to achieve his MQS on the day…It was clearly a great feeling, once achieved. Well done Guys ! Tony was top Gun again and he managed 1 better on the Sunday with an 86. The best round of the weekend went to Rob Harry who just missed out on a straight with a very creditable 24 in his last round. Nice one Rob !

Selection Shoot 5 is back at Crynant on the 8th June. Good luck to all who make it then.
