Report on National Skeet final qualifier weekend 29th & 30th June – by Rob Trow

What a fantastic finale to the National Skeet qualifiers. Weather wasn’t that great but the targets were perfect on the Saturday as proven by the two 99/100 high scores put in by Dave Tavernor and Dewi Rowlands, well shot both. It was a high scoring event with some quite respectable scores of 98 and 97 submitted by Nigel Hodson and Bryan Phillips. Above all everyone seemed to have a really great weekend. A big thankyou to Jeff Challinor and the team for organizing, keeping score and hosting the weekend and making all the shooters feel welcome.

Sunday saw the wind pickup and the targets became a little more challenging but that didn’t stop Nigel Hodson hitting a very well shot 98/100.

A special congratulations to Charles Cunliffe, not only did he shoot his first 25 straight but he followed it up by achieving a qualifying score securing him a place in the juniors on the NSK Welsh Team, well done.

After the final scores were checked and added to the previous 8 qualifiers this year’s NSK team was distilled and will be posted soon.  Congratulations and well done to the new caps, Robert Fretwell, Peter Gray and Charles Cunliffe, you made it!

To all of those that didn’t quite make it this year hope you enjoyed the experience and will put in just as much effort next year as eventually all your hard work will pay off.

I’m sure we’d all like to say big thankyou to the grounds that hosted this year’s qualifiers Mike, Debbie and team at Fauxdegla and Chris, Rhian and team at Crynant, thank you.

Last but not least this year’s NSK Captain is Laura Lewis, well shot and congratulations Laura.

Shoot well
